Never leave external add-ons attached during your car shipping service!

Did you know that summer is one of the busiest seasons for auto shippers? Summer is a common time for people to move, for college students to go to and from school, and for snowbirds to return to their summer homes. Even military members often ship their vehicles in summer as summer is a common time to be relocated. While we may be at our busiest, we are certainly still able to make each vehicle we ship a top priority individually! Nonetheless, there are a few things you can do to get your vehicle ready for a smooth shipment! These helpful tips are the key to a perfect auto shipment service!

Freshly wash your car before your shipping date.

Having your vehicle freshly washed is a great first step to a perfect shipping service. Seeing your vehicle’s condition accurately helps to ensure an accurate inspection is done. When you have an accurate inspection done in the beginning of your shipment, an accurate condition report will be added to your Bill of Lading. This is essential as the inspection will then be repeated after shipping as well. It is important that the driver can clearly note any signs of damage that exist on the vehicle prior to damage. This means they can note what, if any, signs of damage may have occurred during the shipping service.

Remove extra items.

We love how personalized some people make their vehicle! However, some personalizations may hinder the shipping process. Examples of this would be antennas, ski racks, bike racks, and any other bulky item that is added to the outside of your vehicle. It is important to remove these prior to shipping as they could negatively impact how the shipping service goes.

Remove all personal items from inside the vehicle.

Similarly to external add-ons, we suggest you remove any personal or valuable items from inside the vehicle. It is important to note that you are allowed to have items in your vehicle during shipping.  However, anything in the vehicle does not fall under our insurance policy. We provide auto insurance for the vehicle while it is being shipped by us. But, that coverage only covers the vehicle itself, not anything kept within it. We suggest you remove personal and valuable items from inside to avoid any possible damage that may occur to these items while shipping your car.

Have your gas tank about ¼ full.

This is a good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to auto shipping. Having about a quarter of a gas tank is the sweet spot that prevents the gas from unnecessarily weighing down the vehicle while having enough gas for emergencies.
