Truck parking has been a problem for years and it seems to be only getting worse. Many truck drivers regularly have difficulty finding a parking space, especially in California and the Northeastern states. High traffic on the Northeast along with congestion in dense metropolitan areas have resulted in many of those states being in top 20 worst states for truck parking.
The ranking is based on federal studies and surveys on major trucking websites.
The worst states for truck parking:
- Rhode Island
- New York
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
The measures aimed to resolve the parking problem include the accelerated creation of parking spots for trucks with a focus on private capacity, paid reservations at major truck stops and info systems delivering parking space availability in real time.

Very informative post! You bring up some interesting information to consider. Thank you for this information about Truck parking..
I have travelled through a few of these states frequently. As an onlooker from the highway and from seeing trucks at rest stops, I agree with this list. The states should consider building adequate and safe parking for truck drivers. They’ve an important job and should be taken care of while on the road. Hopefully improvements to parking for trucks are made in the near future.I
maintenance is the best way to preservation. Whynot provide a good place where trucks can be well packed and maintain. I look forward to a better day.
